Indy Battleground - Siege Of Bastogne 6/15/2015 Aar

I guess I'll be the one starting this AAR out. My callsign for the day was "Sniper".

First off, huge props to the Indy Battleground team for doing what they did, it felt like an actual MilSim environment and had minimal paintball remnants. There was some shenanigans going on with "spys" and bang kills, some hit calling problems (What game doesn't?) but the refs did what they could.

Later in the game, a commander was captured and it completely changed the way the last game was played. 5 Lives with a hostage; I recorded the final rush with 2 minutes left and I'll have my video AAR/OPREP uploaded within a week.

Overall a very enjoyable experience regardless of team, I know the heat was a bit much for some of us and the attendance was lower then the last one, but still plenty of people to have a great time.

Thanks for holding airsoft events for us, Indy Battleground!

Pros:

- Great look and feel, field was a blast to play on!

- Honesty - Even out of view a decent amount of players kept to the rules and prevented unwanted welts in CQB environments. At one point a team backed off to prevent insertion camping.

- Active Refs, Awesome owner!

- Smoke grenades (Very popular it seems, the only type available after 30 minutes where the high output grenades)

- Food

- Water

- Great Staging area, protected from the weather

- Very decent rules

- Hit calling and shenanigans where reported through the proper channels! This is what the refs are there for.

- Objectives

- Gameplay flow monitoring (Teams felt a bit one sided, but they did what they could.)

- The rain during the 3v3, great way to cool off.

Cons:

- Of course, hit calling.

- The unwanted "spies"

- Hornets and nests. A few players got stung.

- The heat! This isn't the field's fault by any means, but it left me with a headache the next day.

Personal:

- I need to work on compacting my gear.

- Actually make sure my primary sniper is functional, I'm pretty sure the hop-up is broken.

- Don't put a sniper scope on a weapon with recoil and expect it to maintain zero.

- Make sure my backpack actually isn't carrying unnecessary stuff.

- Lower weight BBs. Most of my gear is stock and can't handle the .25/.28s I was running through them. I could've hit targets further away with .20's, the wind would not have affected them very much with the way the weather was.

- I need to stock up on spare batteries, mine lasted the entire day without even slowing down ( I guess that's because it's a new battery? ) But others had to leave because of dead batteries, which isn't fun. Hopefully I should have a few more butterflies/sticks to accommodate people in need.

- More speedloaders.

- Buy more Co2 - I gave out at least 12 to various people.

For me overall was a great day 4.5 out of 5

Pros hit calling was much better

Great day

Put names with faces

Tried new weapons

Con's

Green was severely out numbered

Had a blast

Had my first leading chance

Overall had a blast wish they would host games more often and more people need to give this field another chance

I really enjoy this field. Second time there and both games have been a blast.  Everyone there was friendly, the refs did a good job - really fun!  Looking forward to the next one.

Only con I would say is that the "semi-auto" and "auto" classifications were confusing to some people.  I had an M4 and was told to be on semi auto because it was not a support weapon, but there were tons of others using full auto who didn't have supports.  I would ask them to specify semi-auto or full auto for all non-dmr/sniper weapons so that it is clear to everyone and can be enforced.

Pros:

- Awesome field with some very well built structures that added a really cool effect to the firefights.

- Staff was friendly and helpful.

- Guns and gear worked perfectly.

- Objectives and missions were fun and intense.

- Met some new players!

Cons:

- The heat was ridiculous (not anybody's fault)

- Minor hit-calling issues at the beginning.

- Teams were not balanced and nobody seemed to care.

- The heat caused some inconvenient fogging a few times .

Overall amazing time! Can't wait for Indy Battleground's next Airsoft event.

I'm sorry that I missed this.  Marbleizer gives good games and I'd like to have another go at Blackwater City again.

I'll have to catch the next on for sure when I'm home.

I can't edit my post for some reason, it would be awesome if a mod could merge my youtube link with my main post.

I got my video AAR thrown together. Hopefully my next one will be smoother; tell me what you guys think!

It's up, not processed in 60 FPS yet. Should be in a bit though. Make sure subtitles/60fps is enabled.

All in all, I had a pretty great time until the end and it was awesome to finally get to venture into blackwater city. The location of the field is awesome and the layout / structures are great. I'll always be up for events that Marbleizer puts up.

Pros:

- Awesome field, we finally got to use the new blackwater city section this time.

-  Objectives were fun and challenging at the same time.

- Got my barrett out and it performed perfectly.

- Finally fielded my G39 for the first time and it exceeded all of my expectations.

- Referees and staff were all over it, they did an amazing job.

- Despite being almost outnumbered 2 to 1, us green did great for the most part until the end.

- Had a great time running with some new people!

- Green commander was great, and was always pushing for us to complete objectives.

- When hits were questionable or not being called, referees were always close to verify. Happened both ways for me! Tower was hit by a rocket but I didn't know it, so I asked the ref to check and he confirmed and escorted us out.

- Saw a lot of good sportsmanship on both sides, even when friendly fire happened.

Cons:

- Teams were pretty unbalanced.

- Very little coms on green, most commands were word of mouth or relayed via a few scattered people with radios.

- Some green quit near the end of my time there, and the remaining got backed into the main FOB. Luckily Tan realized they were in our FOB and backed off a bit, which was nice of them.

- Had a guy walking around in green camo but claiming to be tan, just walked down the green line calling everyone out. Around the 3rd time it happened the referees identified him and removed him and they stayed on it. Even if he registered for tan, it doesn't matter. He was wearing the same camo (acu) as 4 members of green, so obviously no one shot at him from green and that's why he had his "success". That kind of conduct is excusable the first time and can be reasoned as confusion, but after the second and third time it seemed pretty deliberate and I decided to leave a while after. I'm not sure if he was intended to be a "spy" or something, but we didn't have one for green and it wouldn't make sense for only tan to have a spy to wipe out the smaller team that was at a numbers disadvantage.

@littleatles good to hear. I figured he was just a really confused late arrival that thought ACU was considered tan and had registered as such (which is sometimes typical). The problem with being late I suppose... my guesses in my AAR were conjecture. Anywho, by the time I left, the referees had identified him and made him leave the field until everything got figured out. I had a great time running against you guys on Tan :)
