Joker
Joker's review of the Echo 1 AK 47 RIS http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/Echo_1_Airsoft_AK_47_RIS_Fullstock_AEG_JP_09A_p/16906.htm Echo 1 AK-47 RIS Fullstock AEG (JP-09A)Manufacturer: Echo 1 USAType: Airsoft AEGVelocity: ~395 fpsGearbox: Version 3 (Metal)Magazine: 600 Round high capBattery Recommended: 8.4v Large or CustomBBs Recommended: 0.20g +Rifle Weight: ~6lbsRifle Length: 34.5" Purchased in 2010. Q: Why did you buy an E1 AK47? A: I was in need of a CQB weapon for OP: Redemption 2 in OH. So instead of down grading an AK I already had, I decided to purchase one and have the retailer down grade it for me to make sure it shot right under 350FPS. I went with Echo1 for a couple reasons; one being that I wanted to give the brand a try and two price. Q: How much did it cost? A: With the price of down grades and the weapon it cost me about $160 or so. Q:What was your first impression of the Echo 1 AK47? A: Upon opening the box and pulling the gun from the foam packaging it felt quite heavy around six pounds.. The upper receiver is metal along with the trigger guard fire selector switch and barrel. The front RIS system is plastic with rails on both sides top and bottom. The stock seams to be of a less quality plastic than say a classic army and may not hold up to a rigorous beating. The fire selector switch has a positive lock on safe, full auto and single fire and is quite easy to move. The balance of the gun is quite good with the battery installed it feels as if you could carry it all day and not be worn out. The grip has an ergo design that fits your hand very well and would be easy to hold in all weather situations. Q: How does the Echo 1 AK47 shoot and what is the FPS? A: After using this weapon as my primary for almost 2 years now I can safely say that it preforms well. It is nothing spectacular and I would say that it is not as "good" as say a TM or CA, but for the price you cant beat it. Accuracy is about what you would expect from a stock AK, not exactly spot on but not bad either. I have put this AK through Hell and back, not intending to break it but trying to really test its durability. Several indoor CQB games, countless outdoor games, and games in bad weather conditions such as downpours and even snow. This gun has seen several states and its fair share of trigger time. Internally it is in great working order. Now to even my surprise the exterior has held up well and keep in mind that this is the plastic bodied version not the metal one. Everything is still working as it should, no cracks or breaks. It is showing some signs of wear and tear, I have some scratches on the stock and some screws are a little rusted from it being soaked a time or two. The only thing I dont like is the selector screw cap broke off (plastic) and the selector screw comes loose every now and again and causes the selector switch to have some play in it (more then I would like anyways). Q: So do you think at the price of the weapon is worth it? A: Yes, I believe that this weapon for the price is well worth it. You must remember that it’s not a TM or CA so don’t expect it to be. Echo 1 is a mid priced weapon that appeals to the budget minded participants and can get you into the sport at a low cost and still be competitive. It has been very reliable thus far. I am not the biggest fan of "clones" but it has since made me a supporter of Echo1. *I use Echo1 midcaps and TM standard (70rd) mags with various .20g bio bbs. ~Joker

Joker
Update: The gun has had its first "issue" after much use and abuse. At OP: Northern Lights 3 in MI I managed to somehow hit the front sight on something and chip/break it a bit. You can still use the sights just fine as only a little bit of the outer ring broke. So other then that it is still going strong and I cant blame what happened on the gun, as it was my fault. I was going to fix it but I might leave it alone. It gives it some character and plus chicks dig scars lol. ~Joker
