Hello from East Central Indiana

CDubMoney

Recommended Posts

Good morning!

My name is Clayton W. I got the nickname CDubMoney in college as I wasn't afraid to drop some money in order for me and my friends to have a good time, often buying pizza for the party. Today, people usually just call me CDub for my initials.

I currently live near Pendleton, but it is technically an Anderson address. If you're not familiar, it's about 20 miles/30 minutes Northeast of Indianapolis up Interstate 69. White River Paintball/Screampark is in Anderson, as is Hoosier Park Horse Racing and Casino.

When I was in high school (20 years ago), I wanted to get into airsoft, but my parents didn't approve, there were no fields or events that I knew about locally, and my friends weren't interested. My parents were okay with paintball and I played paintball regularly with a group of woodsball/scenario ball players called the Central Indiana Assassins (CIA). While I was on that team, the leader was deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan, and although he fortunately did return home, he wasn't the same, and got out of the paintball game entirely. Without his leadership, CIA was no more. Shortly after college, I sold all my paintball gear.

Fast forward those 20 years, I'm in my mid-30's, happily married with two children under 2, and recently come across some airsoft videos on YouTube. It looks like the sport has only grown since those earlier days, and I feel the itch to get back in to those woodsball/milsim type games I wanted to get in all those years ago (I was never into speedball, and it sounds like airsoft has it's own version of speedball/airsoft that doesn't sound like my kind of game).

With that said, I don't currently own any airsoft gear or guns. I'm a complete airsoft n00b who has never played an airsoft game. I was directed here from Facebook in hopes of finding fields/events near me that might have equipment for me to rent until I decide to fully invest in the sport like I did in paintball all those years ago.

It's a pleasure to be here, and I look forward to making some new friends in the sport.

Welcome to airsoft, dude! I'm just now getting back into it myself! In fact, we just had a game yesterday at the Paintball Barn in Attica, and one of our players was from the Indy area as well. We had several people bring guns to loan out, as well as several folks who didn't have any guns or gear come out and have a great time.

Back when I used to play (07-09), communication in Indiana was a lot more centralized. Nowadays there are several Facebook groups that folks use, and I've set up a Discord server for Lafayette-area organization.

I'd love to see the boards more active again, so definitely try to stick around here, even if you use Facebook or discord!

Welcome to the hobby. You're sure to have a great time.

Thanks! I was surprised when I posted on Facebook that someone directed me to a forum, and not a Facebook group.

Are there any Facebook groups you recommend I look for and join? Links would be appreciated.

Airsoft Indiana and Indiana Airsoft seem to be the two biggest groups, as well as Indiana Airsoft Community. There's a team near Lafayette called Section 8 that also has a group.

Indiana Airsoft: https://www.facebook.com/groups/491363874222040

I think a lot of us would like for the forums to be active again, so that some of this stuff is centralized. I know Joker tries to direct people here quite often. I prefer this over the facebook group format, personally.

Welcome to the madhouse! If you are known for bringing pizza then you and I are going to get along just great. I love pizza lol.

While you may find that these forums are not as frequently used as FB you will however notice the quality and quantity of helpful information here is extensive. Some of the posts might be old but a lot of the info is still relevant.

Get the basics as far as equipment goes, good full seal eye protection, good footwear, a water source, and a weapon of some kind and just play. You don’t have to start out with the best of the best guns or gear. You can buy/build as you go. Another reason to get out and play is that players love showing off their stuff and more often than not will gladly hand you their weapons and let you shoot them to see if you like them or not.

Looking forward to seeing you on the field sometime.
