Bear
Hey gang, looking for gear suggestions for doing a shotgun primary at larger milsim/field games. The primary will be a Cyma 870 trishot. My current ideas are to utilize the plastic molle shell caddies used in 3 gun competitions for quick mag changes and to carry an Odin loader with the Bingo shotshell adapter for field reloads. Since my kit weight will be reduced and I'll be more up close and personal, I'm also thinking if carrying a few more grenades. How many shotshells would best? Have any specific pieces of gear that you'd recommend?
Sturm
Magazine adapter maybe? Either way, those shells are easy to reload. There's a new Matrix shell carrier on Evike that would probably work well if it holds the shells tight.Stock pouches are alright, but they add bulk. If you are afraid of losing a shell, go with a closed top one.Scabbards are an option. It's easier to main a gas shotgun or AEG shotty since if you modify a Cyma (They are modifiable, you can even swap barrels and buckings if you feel like buying that many barrels) you are getting into pioneer territory. I haven't had time to disassembly mine yet. Keep in mind, don't cock the spring too hard and don't return to lock super quick or you risk breaking a tiny plastic loader - I had to get my first one RMA'd because of that. Just cycle it smoothly and you'll be fine. If mine ever breaks or I get a donor I'll take my caliper to it and make a cnc'd version. I really like the platform though! Brax Man
Do you plan on adding anything to the 870? side saddle, weapon light etc?
Bear
I'll be doing some external mods, but I'd rather not have any rounds on the gun itself, unless I can find or make a nice leather cheek pad for the butt stock.
Red 2
Having ran trishots at all kinds of events for different reasons, I feel that while I may not be an official source of information, I'm at least pirate radio level. Yay relevance. I'll start with the cons. Just because. 1. Range isn't stellar. It's better than most junky clones, but it won't reliably beat an AEG. Much. At all, really. 2. Rate of fire. Pump action, 3-round burst. I'll go ahead and lump capacity in here as well. 10 and a reload. Cool beans. But you probably know all of this. Pros: 1. The look of disbelief on your enemies faces as they have to call hit for your raging hate boomstick. 2. Run lite, run fast. Movement speed and coordination with the chitlins that pass themselves off as your teammates will go along way applying all the right kind of pressure, in all the right places. 3. Definitely run grenades. Pro pirate trick: chuck an empty thunderb shell into a room, count to 2, and storm in after the hapless goons as they scurry like roaches before the blazing glory of the Sun. Can work outdoors, but not as funny. 4. No gas, no battery, no Co2, no problem. 5. Have either an ambusher or stormtrooper mentality with the shotgun. It's easy to get caught up in firefights, bit that isn't where the strength is. Sneaking off and rekking fools unawares to your presence is where we shine. 6. Sidearms are something to keep in mind. While not required, they do offer some supplemental bbs in a pinch. That's why I personally field the Elite Force H8R. Savage, yet beautiful. There's some good times to be had shotgunning. We simply must coordinate a Bash Brothers outing with this. Edited March 3, 2018 by Red
ghostface320
I, too, have used the empty thunder B shell trick a few times. I yell out frag as I throw it and watch them scatter from cover... then mow them down. If possible find a rock or something to put in the empty shell to add some wait to the shell, if you try to throw it by itself it wont go far. Joker
I would add one of these: https://www.evike.com/products/53336/ They have more than once saved my ass, especially indoors. They make for a good last resort or they can buy you a few seconds to reload or escape. And it's small enough to fit in most gear or just a pocket so that most won't even notice you have it on you for added surprise. There was a dude many many years ago that went by the callsign Inferno. He was from Hawaii I believe. He was famous for making some awesome custom weapons, primarily shotguns. ~Joker

I got shot with one of these the last time I played. Hilarious to round a corner and stare one of these in the face. For sure an "Oh Crap!" moment.
