Battleground 2/4/17

Since no one else has started this, I'll go ahead and make it

Pros

  • Great field as always
  • Love the tents for setup and in between games
  • Good turnout, especially for a game where the weather was in the 20s-30s
  • Got to field my LVOA-S for the first time, I'm in love
  • Variety of game modes

Cons

  • Serious hit calling issues. Multiple people on the red team were shrugging hits like mad. One example was the medic games towards the end, I put an entire mag into a dude's mask. I have a magnified optic, I can see the BBs ricocheting off yet he refused to call his hit.
  • Integrity issues. I heard second hand accounts of people pretending to be dead so they could reposition and get the drop on people. That is a dickbag move that has no place in airsoft. Another instance of the same person who I mentioned in the previous point abusing the medic rules by coming back up instantly after dying, completely ignoring the 10 second countdown before revive.
  • Couple of miscommunications about the rules, not a huge issue but it cause about 10 blue players to have to reposition at one point in the game.
  • Lack of refs. I think they had maybe 2 or 3 refs on the field at any given time, given the number of players and the size of the field I think they need more.

Thanks for starting this, Broken.

Pros

- Solid turnout (no idea how many)

- Field. As far as variety goes, this may be one of the best fields in IN (no offense MCC). However, certain parts of the field definitely hinder gameplay (thinking of the capture the flag game where the attacker couldn't get into the city due to limited cover compared to the town).

- AI turnout. It was great to see AI players equalling the number of non-AI players. I talked to a couple guys about the forum and I'm sure other did as well.

Cons

- Broken is correct about integrity issues during the last game. I was with him for the first half of that game and the red players (new to airsoft?) were frequently not calling hits, not leaving the field after bleed out, and I even had a red player shoot me after he "respawned" where I killed him a few minutes earlier. Some of these issues were due to the refs not watching the field and making sure people walked back to respawn.

- Team balance. The refs did not attempt to balance teams after multiple blow-outs (my view). Thankfully I didn't hear many complaints during the event about this.

If I remember correctly from them counting sides before that first game, the turnout was ~72

Pros:

great turnout

great field

MP5 worked beautifully

free airfills

cons:

SMP went full derp mode, looks like i need new orings for it.

hit calling and integrity issues as already stated

Overall I had a good time. Field is worth the 3 hour drive in my opinion.

My pros and cons list is pretty much the same as everything that has already been posted.

On the subject of the refs, I believe at the community meeting it was mentioned that the owner knows his refs don't know airsoft well, but there hasn't been much of an attempt to help them out. For the next game they have (assuming their is a next one), i definitely think that a group of us could show up a little early and go over what they can improve on or watch for during that day of play

as others stated lack of refs and people just playing with no integrity. other then that great day, really good turnout of a cold game, my inferno derped out trying to switch bodies, my echo1 xcr ran good as always. other then that no major complaints if it would of been about 10 degrees warmer it would of been perfect

  • 2 weeks later...

What is their hesitation with running more games? You would think a 72 person turnout would show them there is plenty of interest.
