atlas77
Hello fellow airsofters, I come to you with a techie question. I have recently bought a King Arms Svd from the boneyard section of a well known website. I knew when i bought it there was a possibility of there being problems. Well long story short the gun functions just seems very very slow firing. So i tore it down to see if there was any problems with the spring or cylinder orings etc and can see no problem. So i am prepared to buy new cylinder piston and springs to make this gun pretty fast, but it leaves me with the question as where to look for springs cylinders etc. So any help to lead me in the right direction would be much appreciated. Thanks. Atlas out!
AceReaper
I would check your compression honestly. If you have a good piston-cylinder seal, like a vacuum seal, I would go to check the seal between the cylinder head and the hop unit. AceReaper
Companies will usually list the FPS a spring will give. I've got no real experience with SVD's, but from what I've read and seen, they do use AEG springs, and if you need further help, I'd suggest checking out the airsoft sniper forum (www.airsoftsniperforum.com) because it is a goldmine of information on sniper rifles. Joker
By firing really slow do you mean low FPS? Since you posted this in the spring weapons section im assuming its a spring SVD, in which case it will only fire as fast as you can cycle it. Have you actually chronographed it yet to see what its shooting? I would do that before you spend a much on money on parts you may not yet need. I would also check the flash hider for any "burs" or imperfections from the manufacture. You might also clean the barrel. As previously mentioned compression could be the issue. And hey when you get it up and running properly and have fielded it you should write up a review for those of us curious about it. ~Joker
atlas77
Well putting a 170 spring in the SVD has seemed to of fixed the low fps but has created a new problem.... really hard to pull back with such a small charging handle. Without a scope its rather hard to be accurate with and with scope and scope mounting running anywhere from 70-120 bucks can set ya back. I'd rate this gun a 6-10 with having to repair it but then again it was a boneyard weapon. Shot a new model same company same everything and was rather impressed shoots very hard for an out of the box gun and with the scope was 9-10 accurate. Rate a new version 8-10. Pros- affordable Fast shootingEasy to carry Cons-Hard to cockHop up seems to be rather useless Extremely long (I know its a 1:1 ratio gun minus weight)And it all polymer minus the internals barrel and trigger. Hope this has helped in someway for anyone interested
