Asylum_88
I've looked around the forum and found some of you guys have an A&K Masada, as do I, so here's my question. I'd like to get a new tight bore barrel for mine but I'm not sure which style of inner barrels would fit it?(ex. M4, AK, AUG, etc.)I know the different guns have different set ups, but this has me stumped..
AceReaper
For rifles, there's really only 4 types of cut. The standard AEG cut (M4, MP5, AK, AUG, G36, list goes on), the M14 cut for TM style M14's (barrel clip cut is closer to barrel window, requires slightly shorter bucking), the VSR cut, and the APS2/Type 96 cut. Unless A&K have done something catastrophically stupid by making a custom barrel design for their guns, a standard AEG tight bore will do exactly what you need it to. I would recommend picking up a prometheus. Expensive, but very well worth it.
broken
If this is your Masada, then you have a 407mm inner barrel. I personally have a Madbull Black Python in my CXP and it shoots lovely, so I'd recommend it along with the Prometheus. Heres links to a few inner barrels that would work with your Masada, assuming it is the one linked above.Madbull Black Python: http://www.evike.com/products/35957/Prometheus: http://www.evike.com/products/24386/ Edited February 12, 2014 by broken
targetpractice
Funny, what I've found says it's either 300 for the CQB, or 363 for extended vs what Broken found. Ace is right, the majority of AEGs are built around specific inner barrel lengths. If you're comfortable with taking it apart, you could always open it up and measure it. Asylum_88
I actually do have it apart and sitting on my desk as I type. Measured from "muzzle" of the inner barrel to where it connects to the hop up is 380 mm, or there abouts because I'm not completely sure where they measure from. So from what I gather you all are telling me, is that most of the M4 style inner barrels will work? From the dissassembly I also found that the stock hop up is plastic and unfortunately cracked where it screws into the outer barrel.. so I'm looking for a replacement for that as well now.I would post a picture to show, but I'm not familiar on how to do that quite yet.. Once I do I will post one soon.

The barrels are measured from the very front to the very back when not installed in a weapon. Assuming you measured it as described, you are likely that 407mm total length. 2. Almost all AEG barrels are compatible with one another. While the hop-up units may be different, most weapons use the same barrels, just different lengths. Comrade S_Z
OAL of 407mm, standard AEG cut. I'd reccomend a barrel ID of 6.03 or 6.04mm, that seems to be the best compromise of tightness and not getting BBs lodged in your barrel periodically. A lot of stock hop-up units are plastic, nothing wrong with that, allows them to flex slightly. Snap a pic of the crack, might not be significant enough to warrant buying a new hop-up. JMHO. nex
I had an A&K Masada a while back. My stock hopup cracked as well, within a few months, I picked up a metal one for ~$20. As for barrel length, you can always use a hacksaw to cut one to the length you need exactly.
Asylum_88
Well, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to post pictures on here and it's quite frustrating.. for now I will try my best to explain. If someone could explain how to do that I will certainly get pictures up. On the top on the hop up piece in front on the adjustment slide there is a crack which goes from the end of the plastic, about 1/2 in. There is also another crack on the exact opposite side (bottom of hop up piece) that is the same size. Both of the cracks I am able to stick my nail in and break off if I'm not careful. These cracks are also on the part of the hop up that wraps around the end of the barrel, so upon further inspection it doesn't seem to be an urgent problem because this part of the hop up sits in the beginning of the outer barrel, held in by 2 small screws. As of now I won't buy a new hop up unit, because I may potentially wrap some tape around that area as it sits inside the outer barrel. I had an A&K Masada a while back. Where did you find a metal unit for around $20? The cheapest I've been able to find is $31 I'm not as worried about length, as I am about making sure I find one that fits the hop up unit. Looking at what they have online, I had the CNC one that is around $31. Either the price changed or I am remembering wrong, but that is the one I had. Asylum_88
This is the top crack on the hop up. And this is the bottom crack on the hop up. From what I'm seeing, they don't seem bad enough to warrant getting a new unit, but I personally like being on the safe side. What do you guys think?Any feedback would be great! Oh also, anyone have experience with Lonex barrels? Good, bad, decent, etc? I prefer not spending $50 on a Prometheus barrel. Thanks! -Rogue-
I would not worry about the cracks in that location so long has the hop functions.
Asylum_88
I was beginning to go that route as well. I figure maybe some tape should do just fine in keeping the stress off.
