New To The Game

BRIFKI

Recommended Posts

Hey... just wanted to introduce myself on here. My name is Araz and new to airsoft. I know there are a lot of young bucks that play the sport, wasn't sure if there are any older guys on here as well. I'm in the Lafayette area and wondering where most of you all play at. I know of Blastcamp up north, but not sure where other are, if any.

Oh and since now I'm in the market for a rifle and pistol. Anyone have any recommendations or which company to look into? Would it be best to buy new or used? Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

As far as new vs. used, you can always find some great deals on solid replicas and gear in the classifieds section.

Welcome! There's plenty of older guys that play. Check out our event section for information on fields. Boneyard Airsoft also has a game on the 24th of June in bloomington as well.

Airsoft as a sport & hobby has taught me that "used" doesn't always mean beat to crap - Especially when our replicas are basically a gearbox with externals on it. It depends on the owner though. A keen eye helps; Things to consider:

How many rounds the piston and gears have seen, how worn the bucking is, how has the spring been handled, any stress points, any cosmetic damage, stripped components, etc.

If the gearbox components are trashed but you externals are fine, you could grab it and fit new components or even an entirely new gearbox in it.

The nice fuzzy feeling of buying a gun new or barely used and being in full control of what wears can be nice. People handle their stuff differently.

Cyma AKs ($120-$200) can be extremely solid starting platforms. Not super expensive and decent enough externals so you don't have to baby them on the field.

There's plenty of other good brands though.

Goggles, gun, mask, boots, antifog, and maybe something to hold magazines.

Welcome! Mostly it's younger guys but there are is a good variety of age groups I would say.

I agree with the above post: Get something used and learn how it works. If you are handy with that kind of thing, you can save hundreds of dollars by buying someone else's gun that has already depreciated and upgrading it.
