Papabees
So I've been doing this about a year now and I'm a little frustrated with my Li Ion batteries. I have purchased four of the Nano Tech Turnigy 1400mah 2 cell 7.4v. Worked great initially but now three of the four will not charge. That seems off. I do not have a really expensive charger: https://www.amazon.com/Tenergy-Balance-Airsoft-Battery-Charger/dp/B004FGWY54/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492263998&sr=8-1&keywords=airsoft+li-ion Is there a way to recondition these? Is my charger the issue or have I had bad luck? Open to input from those with a little more experience than I. Additionally, i am having a heck of a time finding an 11.1 for my new Krytac without ordering from an airsoft site. My preference would be Amazon or ehobbyasia as they seem to have better pricing. Thanks in advance. Edited April 15, 2017 by Papabees
Sturm
I use the exact same charger...And battery brand. HobbyKing is an excellent site for batteries from my experience. This might sound silly, but do you stop shooting when the voltage drops enough to have a noticeable ROF decrease?Voltage could be too low. PELI
what probably has happened is one cell has dropped below what the charger deems safe to chargedo at your own risk but I've had good luck with charging a "dead cell battery" by using a normal charger that doesn't charge and balance each cell at the same time I use one of these to see what each cells at and if one cell is at close to capacity i discharge it so I can try to get the other cell back uphttp://www.ebay.com/itm/like/311629363314?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true once you can get the bad cell up over 3 volts you can usually put it back on the smart charger and get it to recharge.but the amount of money you will spend on a balancer and another charger you could buy a few new batteriesthe main chargers I use are MRC 992 and 959 I also sometimes use a hobbyking dc-4s
Crimson
Lipo's cannot be ran all the way down.. if you shoot your gun till it stops shooting you have destroyed your battery. Sadly Cutoff voltage has not made it to many airsoft guns yet. You ever noctice on all the new dewalt lipo drills and such.. they just stop rather then getting slower when the battery dies.. thats to protect the battery. You have to really keep tight watch on lipos in a airsoft gun to not over discharge then. Being into Rc as heavy as I am you learn all the tricks to this stuff. what peli said can work.. just be careful. A lipo fire is nothing to mess with. Also charger wise.. its hard to beat these for then money. All I used to use until stepping up to my powerlab. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-accucel-6-80w-10a-balancer-charger-lihv-capable.html Edited April 15, 2017 by Crimson
Darth
Hobbyking is god when it comes to buying batteries. So cheap and all I have gotten have lasted me years.
Nox
Agreed with Crimson; go with that charger, it will make your battery care much easier. Also, like mentioned, only buy lipos from Hobbyking. Any airsoft retailer you buy from will vastly overprice their lipos.
Papabees
OK. After much experimentation I have figured out that this gun: http://www.evike.com/products/55452/ Which I enjoy and performs really well, is what has been killing my LiPos. If I leave a battery in this gun, even if I haven't used it, it runs the battery completely down and it will no longer charge. I'm not sure if it's the fancy fire control system or what but at least I know the cause now. Only NiMH for this baby from now on.
green gaint
Papabees its the fire control system im pretty sure, all you need to do is make sure you take out the battery. Some of the guys know the pain from there polarstars
