Milkbone17
Ok this might be in the hit calling board, but i didnt want to scan all through it. So say you carry a ruck sack/ packpack while you play. usually i carry extra water, ammo, spare battery, my mask in case my goggles junk up, etc. ok heres the Question if im under fire in a clearing or where theres no cover and i get flat and take it off and use it as cover or someting to shoot behind if it gets hit but not me is it still a hit? Im not talking using it as a shield thats just stupid. and would understand that. Anyone got an idea?
Basic
Usually when any of the gear on your person is hit, you have to declare yourself hit. I guess it depends on the field rules and what your CO says.
Endgame
I guess it depends on the field rules and what your CO says.I'd say more of what the "EO" says, rather than your CO. (Maybe a typo). My understanding of most hit rules is that if it is on your person, it is a hit. Some people count weapon hits as a hit as well. Best advice is to seek out the Event Organizer before a game/skirmish/event begins to sort that type of situation out before someone labels you a cheater. Milkbone17
right i understand if its on me, but like i said if i take it off lay my ruck sack in front of me and use it as cover as i lay flat on my belly is that different? . thanks for the responses its a tuff call and question. AceReaper
Frankly I'd view that as you being resourceful. Having enough time to drop the pack, get down, and position it for cover would be the trickiest part of that, because in a firefight, you'd very likely be hit before being able to drop the pack and use it as cover. nex
I would say if you completely take it off and lay it down maybe. But then you can't carry it around as your mobile cover either IMO. I think it kinda takes the realism out of it. I can also see the players shooting at you getting really frustrated, because from their point of view they are clearly hitting you.
Crimson
If im the Eo thats a no.. pretty much carrying mobile cover. Airsoft is a simulation if it wouldnt stop a real rounds it does not count.

Joker
As an EO myself I would say no. Not just because in a real situation it would not really be plausible, I mean in airsoft we use all kinds of things for cover that could be shot through with the right weapon. But more because it would be your fault that you came under fire in a place that had little to no cover. I mean I know it happens but it could be avoided. I do applaud your resourcefulness and attempting to think outside the box. If it were another small object that was part of the environment, say a board or tire or something that you were moving to shield you some I would consider allowing that for sure. I have found myself in the situation you are describing more times than I care to remember, especially in more of my Sniper/DM days. And believe it or not even with little to no cover (mostly tall-ish grass) I have either made it out alive and escaped or won the engagements more often than not with a little patience and a little more luck. Those are the types of situations where you will learn something, not only about what to do or not to do but about yourself as well. For instance I almost never drop to prone but instead drop to my back in most of those instances, its the little things. ~Joker

Gadoris
If im the Eo thats a no.. pretty much carrying mobile cover. Airsoft is a simulation if it wouldnt stop a real rounds it does not count.True story, basic training we wet taught to throw rucks down and use them for cover if ever in a fire fight. You maybe carrying something to deflect if nothing else use as conselment. The real question, why would you want to carry all that around. The only time you would want that much water and what not would be bigger games. Those games you wouldn't want it on you the entire day. Crimson
My games I don't count gun hits. For really no other reason then its the norm and most people don't carry a side arm. As joker stated we use a lot of stuff in airsoft that wouldn't stop anything. But part of the game is also not letting yourself get caught without cover. Or when your fat like me. Trying to hide behind little cover
Milkbone17
Gladoris some games we play can last a while and our field is laid out if you on a side where your spawn isn't by our safe zone you only got what ya got on ya. I have 4 mags for my M4 so I rarely run out it's the noobs that need me or my supplies. I like that role of the savior go to guy. And crimson it was a situation where I was in some weeds/ nettles. I was Completely hidden till I shot then it was just random fire that got me if I would of had cover it would of been game changer. But I'm honest the kid didn't know he hit me but I called the hit. Thanks again guys. I say this topic is smashed. And I Appreciate all the input Edited June 20, 2014 by Milkbone17
