Ol' Ball And Chain

For those of you that remember this thread from the IAA, I guess I am sort of reviving it as I haven't yet seen anything here for it. I figured I should post up a warning for the newer players who either do not yet know of this place or have ever thought of going here. Just save yourself the trouble and stay away from this place.

Located right off of Coliseum Blvd. just down from the Mall in Ft. Wayne IN.

I am sure there are others here that will probably echo what I say. Rogue, have you personally dealt with them at all?

The place is not just and "airsoft" shop, but rather a sports shop that sells just about everything imaginable as far as sports. The owner is an older guy, probably in his 40's, who walks around with what seemed at the time to be an airsoft pistol strapped to his belt. I believe it is his wife that also works in there. The wife is very nice and very helpful, but literally knows nothing about airsoft. When asked a question, she will either direct you to the man, side step it, or just stare at you blankly. The man, sometimes does this as well, and, well lets just say that he came off as "he's better than everyone else" and that "he knows everything about anything" when it came to airsoft. He didn't. Knew very little actually. He claimed to be a gun tech, but listening to him talk to a customer who was getting their gun back after getting fixed, it seemed as if he really didn't know that much about fixing guns. Oh and he bragged about his "cutom" cqb build that he was showing off which apparently chronoed 500fps, and he then proceeded to dry fire it and comment abou the high rate of fire, which was a poor 18 rounds a second at best. Yeah, custom cqb at 500 fps, sure there man. Lastly, everything in the store seemed to be overpriced. Some wasn't bad, but some was just outrageous, like an A&K 249 for $500 (ya, right). Now I understand that everyone has to make their living and local business will charge just a bit more, believe me I know, but seriously, most of those prices were unacceptably high, especially taking into account that airsoft is only a small part of his overall business.

Now, I have had personal dealings with this place in the past, but have never bought from them and never sold to them. My active conscious screamed hell no when I even thought about doing anything like this. However, I have personal friends, and have met many people who feel they have been wronged by this place, in more than one way (keep in mind these people are legitimate airsofters). For anyone who is interested, I can quote over stories from others.

Now, I have not been there in two years now, so I am unsure if anything has changed. Im not trying to be slanderous toward them because I do not hate the couple, but I am warning any and everyone. Just save yourself, and until "good" stories and reviews come out of this place, just stay away from it. And take those reviews with a grain of salt. It will take a lot like them to ever get me back there, but places can change I suppose.

Final warning though, I advise you to steer clear.

Near as I can tell, they have gone out of business. The shop is no longer at its original location. When I did visit about a year ago, it was normal stuff wayyyyyy overpriced.

If they are still in business, do not give them yours.

I am sad to say that before I met everyone here I have in the past purchased some weapons from them. I have to agree with what has been said of them, They are very over priced and know little about the things that they sell. For example when I bought my M14, I had to wait to be able to bring it home since the plug had been reversed and that they could not find the charger that came with it. In the end it cost me more money than I wanted to spend.

For all those out there PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS AIRSOFT STAY AWAY!
